You can only ensure that you are hearing what pitch the sound of the fan will be making. Not the amplitude (Decebels). So this site only half helps my friend

It won't let you be sure of ACTUAL decibel leves, just relitivly how loud they would be. If you have a HSF on there, you could just turn up the volume till the sounds were equal, then play the rest....

but pitch added with a knowledge of what dB is and how loud say a delta is will go a long way.
