Hey guys, I just built my new rig last night and have finally got it up and running. The parts are in my sig.

Problem is, it seems as though the fans are running at a low speed. The 3 system fans, one front 120mm, back 120mm and side 80mm seem to be running quite slow, and the fan on my scythe ninja cooler is running slower still. :bang head

The system fans are connected directly to the powersupply, the scythe is running off the motherboards system fan connector. I opened up easy tune and it displays this:

CPU RPM:2000
SYSTEM RPM: 1000
POWER: 1000

I have options to turn up the RPM on each fan. What do you guys reckon, can I turn these up?

First, if the system fans are connected directly to the power supply they are most likely running at full speed unless you have a fan controller or some kind of voltage reduction on them.

Next, there are a number of fan control settings on the health page of the bios and if you disable the cpu fan control it will run at full speed, unless you don't have it plugged into the cpu fan connector.

Now to clear up some things, those numbers you are seeing in easytune are not the fan speeds. I think you are looking at the page that set the thresholds for alarms. Click on the PC Health and then hardware monitor. That will show you temps and speeds.

You shouldn't see a cpu speed if you have the cpu fan plugged into the system fan connector.

There were some problems in the bios with fan control but it seems to work after F7 bios. Try the different settings in the bios. I used legacy auto and then let easytune control the cpu fan when i had fans on it. I have water now.

Hey great thanks, I'll update the bios and see how things go, not used to all this fan setting stuff, as you can see obviously!

No problem

It takes a while to get the hang of it. I'll be around if you have any more questions.

yea, i noticed that too. infact with my CPU fan the ds3 ran it so slowly. that it didn't have enough volts to even start the fan. which is kinda bad.

so i ended up disconnecting all the fans from the board. but i don't mind all that much because i built the computer for silence.

I've been told they are still working on some fan control issues in the new bios that they are working on. I really can't tell how much progress they are making though because I'm using water now. My system fan is an 80mm pointed at the northbridge though and I can finally control it with speedfan after bios F7.

I must say though that the fan control even with all its problems, works better then on an Intel board.
