I ran Prime95 yesterday and after 4 1/2 hours I got a fatal error message stating "could not access temp file".
Can someone tell me what's wrong. my system looks to be running just fine. Is something wrong w/ my XP 1700+.
I've only had it for a little over a week.

I've never seen that error. Usually, if I have hardware errors, Prime95 would give me an error like "Unexpected result, expected 2.3324564362345 but got 2.4565645545" or something like that.

run prime again...if you can't duplicate the error, then it could have been the OS...if you can, then ur o/c is probably not stable for some reason...

Well, I've been running Prime95 for over 6 hours now, it's still going. no fatal error yet.
Probably need to upgrade to Win XP, any comments?

Thanks. I'm running the torture test.
Wish I know how to copy/attach my mbm5 screen so I can attach it here.
Can someone please show me how?

Actually, WinXP can be more picky for overclocking, it makes me weep:( since I used to be able to have my PC 100% stable on Win2K @ 1400MHz, but now I have to back down to 1350MHz to get things stable again on P95 Torture.

WindowsXPPro is more crash tallerant while NOT overclocking being less crash tallerant.

I got my cpu temp to 33c by letting my study room get a bit colder.

the newest version of prime 21.4.1 i think

has a more relaxed test so it gives back less faulse error messages

ive been running prime95 for 2 years ish on many diffent comptuers ive never had the program weird out on me ever
some times i get faulse errors but it just picks up where it left off

but nothing like couldnt find a tmp file

Prime95 does read and write save files during the torture test. Maybe the PCI bus is overclocked too much for your hard disk. Or maybe it was a one-time glitch.

Looks like it was a one time glitch. I've since let Prime95 torture test run for 12hours a few times since it happened.
no erros reported.
Thanks.
