I know i'm now a member/Captain of team Cryo-Lab, but I thought i'd post these here and see what y'all think.

I ran these benchmarks: 3dmark01, 03, 05

I got my system to the following: FSB 218, Core 390, Mem 870. If i went up by even 1 on any of them, the system wouldnt' boot past the log-in screen of XP. I also unlocked my 6800nu to a full 16x6. I was running the latest 78.01's (not yet Futuremark certified, so take my scores with a grain of salt).

Here is the CPU-Z of my system: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=38937

Now i can get the FSB to 221, but the moment i start crankin' ANY on the video, it crashes, so i backed it off till i found that 218 was stable for the speed's i found when stock. Also a limiter is my mobo has NO AGP/PCI lock, which further limits my OC's and stability at higher clocks.

Here are the base scores:

01: 18,667
03: 9,234
05: 3,666

I unfortunately didn't ORB those. However, I did orb the following:

Test Score
3dmark01 20,825
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8724222

3dmark03 11,953
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4266981

3dmark05 4,781
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1232939

I know I almost broke the 12k barrier in 03 with my 6800 and it broke my heart that I couldn't reach it. Still though, I know my system was giving its all. I know it was, as I had literally spent hours tweaking all the settings to get the max stable that I could find.

The only way to get any faster would be to get a mobo that has a PCI/AGP lock and to do a volt mod to the 6800nu. I think a good MOBO would give me the OC i need to reach 12k on 03, and 5k on 05.

It'll get ya over 12k easy in 03, probably around 12.2k.

01 is the most tweakable of all...dunno if that's your cup of tea.

the what?

here

For AMD systems- most important tweak of all
Control Panel->System->Hardware tab->Device Manager
Open the "Computer" tree, open up "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface PC" and in the Driver tab, update the driver. Set the radio button to "Show all hardware of this device class" and select "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" and install it. This tweak raises idle temperatures, and reduces overclocks slightly, but is well worth it. Not for 24/7 usage at all, though.

Yes the ACPI tweak is very nice. Now are you sure you have maxed your rig for everything all the tweaks and as many voodoo cookie power things as you can?

Looking randomly at 03 scores today most 16/6 inlocked cards do 12.5k even on Athlon XPs.

most of those cards are also GT's........

as for my system, yes, it is maxed. The is as fast as I could get it to run. I can get it up to 221 FSB, but like i said, the moment i started uppin' the 6800 after that, everything went all freaky. The highest stable FSB I could get was 218. (STUPID no AGP/PCI lock!!)

The core on the card was as high as i could get it before causin' problems in 3dmark. Same as the Mem on the card.

About the only way for me to get much faster would be to get a mobo with pci/agp lock so i can OC even more, and for a volt-mod on this 6800.

There's a huge difference between being maxed speed-wise and being maxed score-wise. The former is simply the first step, far from the last... ;)
