fins for a waterblock?

Only the bold lines of this post matter. I'm putting together a mostly external H2O system...

Have: clear 1/2 inch hoses, Rio 1100, 6 1/2 gallon fishtank reservoir, 2nd 2.8 quart tupperware reservoir, mini-fridge, 12 foot copper coil(submerged in the tank but maybe I'll make a bong or stick it in the fridge), 8 inch 2-speed room fan, water thermometer, Uv dye, blacklight

Need: waterblock, possibly a radiator, water wetter

Kind of a ghetto system, but... After I test it out and see what water temps I get with the fridge, and either get it balanced so there's no condensation or waterproof the motherboard... I have a side panel duct fan that blows about 50-60 cfm on the cpu socket area. Would it help to stick some small heatsinks on the waterblock with thermal epoxy?

Ok since your the only person brave enough to have made a Slorb(besides me), I'll award you with two containers of Military Spec H20 my treat :D
 
It's concentrated water! Just add...water. Gosh them boys at the pentagon think of everything!

I don't think a heatsink would hurt anything sitting on a waterblock. If it's an all copper one like DD's maze, then it just may help some because the whole block would heat up some from the processor, and the heatsink would take some of that off.
It'll also add some backup incase of a pump accident.

And try puting that copper coil on the housfan, you might surprise yourself. That's a good ammount of surface area, and could make a decent radiator itself. I've seen it done with less tubing, and it worked. More would be better, but 12 foot is a good start.

Putting fins on it will help more the hotter the block is. If you are at near ambient, then no, not really. If your rig isn't working very well, the warmer the fins, the more heat will dissipate through air conduction. Delta T baby, Delta T.

Oh yeah, check this out. And how much does military water cost? $472.39 a liter? (just a guess)

I got it for .89cents for 32 ounces

A friend got me a case, was all they had, the truth is its distilled water, and is a waste for stupid people like me to buy......But I can say I got Mil Spec h20 :D

lol, guess the military has some sort of expensive reactor chamber where those army intellingence guys came up with a way to mix together 2 parts hyrogen and 1 part oxygen to get that special military water.

Heatsinks: I've only got some spare aluminum heatsink parts and a spare Volcano 2 right now, but I got a place to get used stuff like that for pennies on the dollar. I figured it couldn't hurt to put fins on a waterblock since I've already got a nice duct in place. I'm hoping to get by with no radiator or with just that copper tubing. I have about 6 more feet of it, and there's a hardware store across the street from mi casa where it's like $1 per foot. Really gotta get me a block to get this started. It's getting hot here in Texas! Thanks for the comments guys!
 
Dont buy copper tubing at a hardware store! Buy it at a plumbing suppy place! Its way way way cheaper. Trust me I work with it everyday. PS I got 50 feet in my van as we speak. Oh yeah by the way are you going to use compression fittings or flare fittings to put the tubing together with? Flare tends to leak less.......just a thought.:D
