Well, at least they're cool looking and a great match for those red video cards.

Buffalo has released a new line of ram, called "Firestix", using Hynix bt-d43 chips. Do you think that they got together with Crucial's "Ballistix" naming committee and worked out these names at the same time?

It is another source of moderately priced Hynix chips, however, for those interested.

everyone is getting into the "extreme" memory line. despite what those knuckleheads at intel are doing with locking the fsb, us enthusiasts must have more pull they want to admit...thnx for the info reefa man..

Hopefully with the newcomers prices will drop a little. In the past enthusiast memory has come at an awful price.

Here is another review of the Firestix, the one that is referred to at Buffalo Tech's site.

Interesting review at this same site on the Kingston HyperX PC3200 CL2. These will run 2-2-2 up to around 215 or so. List is about $360 for a gig. Man all this stuff is expensive.

While Buffalo FireStix do not break any new ground in our DDR memory tests, FireStix were competitive in every way with the best DDR500 memory that we have tested. The performance was very comparable to other high-speed enthusiast memory based on Hynix B memory chips. That is, the FireStix performed at aggressive 2.5-3-4 timings at DDR500 as well as decent 2-3-3 timings when running at DDR400

Sums it up
