You can't flash with those memory management apps running. Either the flash will simply fail, or worse yet, your BIOS will get corrupted if the flash actually starts.
now... my NEW problem.. I try toFLASH the bios, I got the properfiles fromf the ABIT website... BER_XK.bin for my BE6v2 mobo. Now, when I try to flash using awrdflash.exe.
I enter the file to load-->ber_xk.bin
I save the bios -> oldbios
and then.. I get
Checksum D0ABH
"THE programs file's part number does not match with your systm."
Proceed Y/N?
--> Y
--> ERROR unknow file type (and I get booted out of program...)
anyideas?
Try flashing directly from the hard drive instead of using a floppy. I always flash from the hard drive and have never had any problems. Here's how:
1. Create a new C:\BIOS directory and download AWDFLASH.EXE, and the BER_XK.BIN to it.
2. Reboot the machine and when during boot up the "Verifying DMI Pool Data……." message comes up, press either Shift F5 or Ctrl-F5. The "Verifying DMI Pool Data….." message comes up right after the "System Configurations" chart and the "PCI device listing..." and just before the "Starting Windows 98..." message.
3. The message "Windows is bypassing your startup files" appears and the system will go to the C:\ prompt. At this time Windows will have been prevented from loading and you can flash the BIOS. You need to do this because no memory management utilities can be running. Don't try to flash the bios after starting Windows or DOS.
4. Change the directory to C:\BIOS and type AWDFLASH BER_XK.BIN and press Enter. Leave a space between AWDFLASH and BER_XK.BIN.
5. When it asks if you want to make a backup of the old BIOS answer yes. Name the backup OLDBIOS.BIN or something like that.
6. Follow the prompts to flash the BIOS. After the flashing is completed, reset the computer and then enter the BIOS to set it up the way you want.
