Hey guys,

I found by the trash the other day a perfect condition IBM flatscreen CRT Moniter (looks 19inch) But somebody has physically Cut the VGA Cable.

Is it worth selling on eBay for anything? Like $5 and whatever the shipping will be?

Or not worth the hassle and dump it ?

Thanks, ps2cho

I got two monitors a couple years back with the same problem(someone had robbed the towers and cut the cables to make it quick). I bought a monitor KVM cable(for $6), it had the female connector on both ends, cut it in half and rewired both monitors and then used them for a couple years. CRT's don't sell very well on eBay, even ones in good condition, because of the cost of shipping. I'd say just fix it up and keep it as a backup or sell it then.

Replace the vga cable. I just fixed a MAG 15" lcd by using a vga extension cable (as mentioned above). Not really worth selling. You could simply fix it, use it for a bit, then give it away when you are done with it.

Its cut right back into the case of the moniter...so i have no cable to work with really..

all you can really do from that point is open it up to take the led out, maybe you'll be lucky and there will be enough lead from inside to work with... if not then just trash it.

On the ones I fixed, they were cut like that also but the little stub that is left continued on inside the monitor for about 4" and plugged into the pcb, I unplugged it and took it out to work on.

Yeah, if you don't feel comfortable with opening up the monitor then don't. But if you are careful, and handy with a soldering iron, you should have no problem getting it fixed. If so, you'll have yourself a very nice monitor :).

Not bad huh!

I jsut noticed on the left hand side though, something has fallen off the button (the very left one) But that isnt a problem.

just a quick warning to you... I was messing with a power supply unit and managed to not only electrocute myself real nice, but I also got some pretty bad burns on my hands

picture extremely related. BUT, if you stay clear of the suction cup in there then you'll be plenty safe. I play with monitors all the time... waaaaayyyyyyy safer than power supplies.
