Trying to get my head around this one, Celeron 566@850 1.7volts, in my old BX6-2.0 ran fine for 10months, update to new mobo, Abit SA6R, and it won't go to 850, not even @ 1.75v. Am I missing something here? I know there are ways around this, cpu pin wiring etc. but it seems if it o/clocks in one mobo it should do it in another mobo, right right???

Did you change chipsets? Is your PCI devider set correctly, it could be a number of things. Maybee your forcing your AGP slot too high, and then you cant see anything cause your vid card refuses to work... i dunno, could be a number of things.

You could try to trouble shoot this in a number of ways. One would be as suggested to check the video. One way to check it would be to remove the video card you have and use the onboard video.

If you have a Sound Blaster live, then make sure you have the latest drivers and try installing the newest Liveware or whatever it is called. The 815 chips need the latest drivers for Sound Blaster Live.

Thanx for the respones....:) More details, same video, sound card as in the BX6 config, in fact I'm using the same drivers. I do a straightforward o/clock, 66-100mhz to give me the 850 on the Cel 566 and @ 1.75v it just about makes it into Win98 then locks. The BX6 ran great for 10 months @ 850. 1.7v, I will try newer drivers. My ratio is correct one third on the pci....

It could also be that you did not make real good thermal contact with your h.s...you might have to add thermal compound to your "greenie"...did you add more fans? is your power supply up to the new boards needs? some of the newer boards require a constant current, or something like that..I faintly remember reading about it in a manual..but it's really foggy...it could be you got an unstable board ( I hope that is not the case)..could be you just need a little more tlc when doing that board.
Ain't that a Via chipset? I understand you can run the memory asyncronously..is that true?
If I remember correctly, this board was a little finiky when I first got it..but in a few days it settled down, and stable'd out. give it a couple of days and a bit of persistance, and it might settle down...open the case for a while.
All these things might not help, but they couldn't hurt.
I forgot to mention you might need to update your bios...sometimes stability issues can be fixed with a bios upgrade.
