Freeze on boot

Im having trouble with my computer. when i boot it i can get to the part where i choose which user i log on to not a problem. but when i log on it goes to my desktop and then it freezes. i just get this buzzing tone out of my speakers. i have a fresh install of windows xp professional. a brand new wd raptor hdd and my secondary drive is a seagate 80 gig sata drive. could my mobo be bad or my psu being dumb.

is it overclocked? Did you install windows with it overclocked?

im overclocked now but i installed at stock and it still froze at stock speeds

check your videocard. it might be loose or reseat ur memory or cpu.
