My friend gave me an Audigy Sound card for free (was in his brothers PC, but he moved and didn't care), model number : SB0090. I guess it's just an Audigy or something.

One problem : I plugged it in, it *should* have worked fine, but XP didn't reconize it, it just said "new device plugged in", and when I tried installing drivers, it said there was so sound card plugged in. Then I relized theres little black connector things at the top, 5 to be exact, Labeled like this:

TAD (4 pins), CD_IN (4 pins), AUX_IN (4 pins), SB1394 (9 pins, 5 on the bottom, 4 on top), and CD_SPDIF (2 pins)

Now, I'm not really sure if these had anything to do with it, but aren't there cables that should be on a few of those to make it work? If so, any links to help me find these? I'm retarded when it comes to sound cards.

Thanks :)

Those are suppose to run to your cd/dvd, but are only for playing cd music, and doesn't really effect anything. It looks like you need the right drivers. You might try windows update, but the SB0090 is an OEM card, which is the same that I run. What drivers did you get? Go the the Sound Blaster site and get the Audigy Gamer or MP3+ (I think I used the MP3+, but the gamer should work also I think)

about the only connector you'll need on that card is the 1394 (firewire). most people dont connect their cd/dvd drives to sound cards anymore, because you get the same sound digitally from the cd drives m/b connection instead of those analog cables. And the Soundblaster site is the best place to get the drivers.

you can actually search for support by model number on www.creativelabs.com. After than, download the correct drivers from their website and you should be good to go. None of those connectors on the top of the card are necessary for installation.

Alright, I tried both MP3+ and Gamer, both did the exact same thing as before:

I tried with onboard sound on and off, and I know it's in all the way. Maybe it's because I have no firewire cable plugged in?

When I start windows, a little window in the corner says "Found new hardware : Multimedia Audio Controller" and a little box pops up, but then after that it's like "can't find drivers, try reinstall" or something like that. So, it IS reconizing it, but i can't install the drivers. ok.

I just want to get this working, onboard sound sucks :\

I'm guessing the install programs are trying to install software, assuming the drivers are already loaded. If it does recognize it, and just can't find drivers, manually locate the drivers. You may try winzip on the install program to manually extract them. Then run the install.

Alright! I extracted the .exe and installed just the driver, works perfectly! I can't get my mic to work yet, but i'm working on it.

Thanks for the help!
