FSB frequency at half speed

For some reason my fsb and memory frequency keep booting at half the speed I set them at. I set the fsb at 166 mhz and the multiplier to 11.0x which should result in a frequency of ~1830mhz but I'm only getting ~916mhz. The system is very unstable and often fails to post. I have had to reset the CMOS several times to correct this. It can make it to windows but usually locks up or crashes after a few minutes. I have put both my processor and video card into another system and both work fine. I also tried a fresh battery but this also didn't help. I flashed the bios from 1004 to 1009 but that didn't help. I also checked all jumpers on the MB and all are in their correct position. I did a serch on these forums and google and found nothing. I am totally stumped and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My system specs are as follows:
ASUS A7N8X-X BIOS 1009
AMD mobile barton 2500+
512mb 333mhz memory
Radeon 9800 Pro

just send the mobo back :)
never buy asus
as i see you have barton 2500+
get abit nf7 (rev 2.0)
it will be more stable, very reliable and overclock more
i think u got a faulty mobo i had the same with an intel mobo in my old setup
good luck

Asus isn't bad, though this one may be. :)

Getting an NF7-S is a good idea - they're great overclockers and very stable platforms overall.

I don't think I could live with myself if I tried to return it. A few days ago one of the fittings leaked when I was refilling my water cooling system. I cleaned it with alcohol and let it dry off for a day but it just hasn't worked well since then. It's funny though, I played X2 untill 3AM last night with no problems but this morning when I turned the computer back on all these problems appeared. I'm drying it off again but I think I probably killed it.

Which of these MBs would you guys recommend. What is the difference between the NF7, NF7-S, NF7-M, and AN7.
