well i'll keep it simple, i have a7v133 and duron 800,

6x160fsb=960mhz
3dmark2001= 3028

7x142fsb=994mhz
3dmark2001=2882,

similar results for quake3!!

ofcurse its only applies for gaming....

post your resualts people!

No it applies to anything addressing the FSB. The fastest CPU speed is not always the fastest overclock for a system. Thanks for pointing this out. I believe many folks want the bragging rights to a 1.6 gig system etc. The thinkers will accept a lower CPU speed for a faster system.

Of Course it is! The fsb is how fast the processor communicates with the rest of the system..for example: the memory, the hard drive, the pci bus, the agp bus ETC. That's why i have my Duron 750 unlocked and @ 954mhz 159fsb X 6 mulitplier @ 1.775v.

Runs like a dream.

Instead of 6x159, I might be inclined to see if that setup would go 6.5x150 or 7x150 @ 1.85V. Sure it's 9 Mhz slower on the FSB, but the FPU will benefit from the 6.5x or 7x versus the 6x. Most Durons can handle 975-1050 Mhz with reasonable cooling. I try not to run the FSB "knocking on the door" of Too Fast. My point being, always try a few different itterations to see what works best for your needs. I do a lot of CAD and Scientific Modeling as well as gaming, so my perspective is a little different than a pure gamer.

My heatsink is horrible, and i have a 80mm Delta @ 25V blowing into it, so it kinda makes up for it LoL. I would rather have more fsb, as i am trying to get the record @ madonion.com for the fastest VooDoo3 and duron combo. So far, my best score is 1798 with my duron 750 @ 954 159fsb, and my voltage @ 1.775v, my VooDoo3 @ 185. The highest score is 1880, with a duron @ 1016, and VooDoo3 @ 200+.

I hope to hitt a gig @ 1.85v 166fsb and 6 multiplier. That would be quite an overclock!

That's a pretty neat endeavor. I assume you tried 6.5x150 or 7x150 and it was slower running 3D Mark 2001 already. Good Luck with your run on the record. We're all pulling for you.

tried lowering multiplier and upping bus and @6x140=836 got higher scores in fp and mmx than my normal 133x6.5=865 but was less stable. to the contrary the 9x100 got the best scores.??
