In a hunky dorry (sp?) world where everything works just like its written on paper, DDRRAM with a speed of 433 will not help a 800FSB processor over DDR400, right? becuase the processor techincally cannot hande over **gb of information, so even if the RAM is faster it doesn't help. But now in the real world many sites have shown that 400 ram can still help a 533 FSB processor. So, if someone were to get an 800FSB processor would it be better to get 433DDR or 400DDR?

the benifit of buying faster RAM and running it on a slower BUS that it is rated for is that you will be able to run the RAM with more agressive (in thory) memory timings. Lower latency ect.

and as a result of the more agressive memory timings, they memory scores will be higher.

As for what it will do for you out of memory benchmarks and real programs is next to nothing, 3% may be on memory intensive apps... but evry little bit does help right?

as for what speed all depends on what your want to do.

If you just want to run stock DDR400/PC3200 will do just fine. just get some quality stuff that has low CAS value...

If you want to overclock, just rember than anything faster than PC3200 is not. As Jedec as no spec for that so it is just overclocked PC2700 or PC3200..... so its like insurance, sort of as not all PCXXXX will live up to its rated speed....
but odds are in your favour

All that means is it might give you a few hickups, but all in all you should be fine aslong as you install the same DIMMS in pairs.

So all in all less of a gamble to buy the overclocked RAM, than stock and doing it yourself....
But once again as for what to buy all depends on how fast you think you can get your FSB upto
