Funky idea for closed loop watercooling

I was in my freezer yetsterday and saw these blue ice,Ice substatute things for coolers and stuff.What if you broke one open and used the blue liquid in your closed water cooling system,because i belive this stuff is made to hold cold and not heat,so if ya broke them open and put the liquid in your water cooling would it be better than water.I would try it but i run a bong and i don't know how this stuff is as far as toxic.
 
Hmm...It's been a while since a science class, but I think there may an elementary flaw in your idea. Every substance has a specific heat. This is mainly a property of it's density. It's a measure of the heat capacity of a substance. If you heat a block of lead and a block of aluminum, both equal volume, to the same temperature throughout, the lead block will take much longer to cool to room temperature than the aluminum block. Lead has a higher specific heat.

The same holds true for that blue stuff in the freezer pack. If you freeze equal sized containers of water and the blue stuff, the water will warm to room temperature faster. The blue stuff has a higher specific heat.

I think this property is a disadvantage when it somes to water cooling. You want heat to transfer rapidly from one meduim to another. I think a liquid with a low specific heat is better. (water)

I don't think it would be a good idea to use the blue stuff, because, its made to hold the cold longer than water, which means that it takes logner to cool, and therefore also take longer to warm up. In a watercooling sys, you want a liquid that will absorb as much heat a possible in a little time, which is why water is good. I'm not a scientist or anything, but I think it goes something like that.
 
yes i agree with him the blue stuff wouldnt absorb the heat from the core quickly enough to efficiantly cool it.
