Has anyone here tried the new FUSION line of paint from Krylon? I am curious as I just saw a commercial for it where it stated that it bonded to plastic and metal without priming.

Help me out here. I am curious as this would be great for matching drive faces to our cases.

I just picked up a can of it yesterday and tried it on an old cd-rom drive. It worked great! I sprayed the faceplate a few times to cover it all, and there was no chipping and it looked awsome!

I paid about $4 for it. It was still a little sticky after 15 min so I let it dry for a while because I had to leave. Im going to try it on an onl gateway case tonight to see how it works on just a case. Im thinking of sanding part of it and then leaving part of it normal and seeing how it turns out.

I was looking for it in Lowes yesterday, but they didn't carry it. No Krylon, only Rustoleum. The Fusion is supposed to come in 16 colors. I hope they have a light silver to match my case. I am not surprised the 15 minutes was not enough to dry, but as long as it's not a couple hours, I am happy, *lol*.

If you do try that it would be great if u posted your results, i for one would like to know what the difference is. On a side note does anyone know of a paint that doesnt require sanding for application?

I have been working at home depot as a paint department head for a couple years now and find it hard to believe that any regular paint such as this would be effective without priming. I've seen the commercials about the fusion, and how it is supposed to chemicall bond. I don't know about you guys, but I doubt it steems are bubbles when you apply it to actually give you a chemical reaction. Who knows how good it is. If it does work like it says, that would be sweet. I wonder how similar to reguar spray paint it is. I'm sure you can still wet sand to get that perfect finish. Until I see some good results though and someone taking their fingernail or a penny to try and scratch the surface, I'm skeptical.

But again I'd be happier than any if it did work.

hrm....well, then buy a few cans care of Home Depot and do some "research" on your case, hehe. Hey, you can't sell paint if you're not informed, eh?

anyhow, I would love to know if this stuff works......the only thing keeping me from painting me case is the amount of work involved.

It does work like it says.

My brother painted his whole case with it.

All he did was clean his case, let dry and then paint it once, then let dry.

It looks good, it's obviously no mirror finish, but it's close enough looking to if you had primed first and done it the old fashioned way.

Well, I sanded half of the case and just cleaned the other half and then painted it. The sanded part is really nice and smooth, and the other side is the same texture as the original paint. I kinda like the smooth part better, it just looks nicer. I really like this stuff. I think my next project is going to be a beige case turned black with 1 or 2 green stripes in it. I was worried on what paint to use, but I am definetly going to be using this stuff.

ya but seriously, this is a GREAT product if it works

i mean, my "black" case is like 4 different shades of black! it would be great/easy to just tape stuff up and then go at it spraying away

im gonna buy some and spray my linux box inside and out and see how it turns out, maybe it will warrant me taking everything out my main rig (once again) and spraying it :p

I also just did a microsoft intellimouse 1.1 and it turned out awsome also! I did 2 coats and put it all back together a few min. ago. The only problem is i changed out 1 of the 2 lights with a blue one, and you cant see it. Oh well. It looks fricken awsome though.

Do you have to clean the old paint off first? or just make it a clean surface? I would like to repaint my case because the plastic on the front cam eout a slightly darker blue than the metal from the shop, I have an alienware chieftec case with the indented lettering.. is there any way to paint that easily and effectivley?
