Compusa has this weekend a maddog geforce fx5200 with tv out for 100$ with 50 MIR. is it a good price? right now im using the onboard video of my nforce (not 2), would it be a good improvement? (besides it has a tv-out that would work great with my DVD drive :D ) I was thinking about a radeon 8500LE/9100, but this one just appeared, I also thought about a refurb. but this one has lifetime warranty. any advices???

TIA Kintaro Oe

Here's a link to the card Specifications . I would say for 50 dollars in the end this looks like a really good deal. Oh it's not a 50 MIR. It's a $20 IR with a $30 MIR per Compusa's website :)

Plus with the card you would disable your onboard video making the mobo cooler in the process. Since you say you have the Nforce 1 chipset. I am assuming you have the Geforce 2 MX400 video chipset. If thats the case then this card would be a big upgrade IMHO.

I'd agree, I'm going from the radeon9000pro to a 5200ultra myself. Love those specs when they give you a graph with numbers but don't say what the numbers stand for.

9000 pro to fx5200 isnt that big of an upgrade besides the dx9 which is gonna be really slow too. for $50, take that fx5200 and being from maddog, they probably use great ram so enjoy your overclocks

Um, sorry to say, but the 9000 pro is faster then the fx 5200, and about the same speed as a 5200 ultra. Look before you buy, the 5200 is a downgrade from a 9000 pro. look at some reviews if you dont believe me, in fact, most say the 9000 pro is a better performer then the 5200 ultra.

I wont argue, but lets just say its a waste of time to get a fx5200 when you already got a 9000 pro and leave it at that way. If he wants a new card, be it a ti4200 :D

yes, here is a case that the ti4200 is much better deal in. I would take ti4200 for 100 bucks over a 50 buck gf fx 5200 anyday. worth the 50 bucks.

The FX5200 would be a good deal better than your current onboard video, and for $50, you can't really go wrong. :)
