Hence the first link is also the first generation 0.13 and there still getting crazy money for them. Why would that be? $139 is still a good deal. Specially if people are actually spending up to $800 for the same exact one.

BTW they have the FX-55 .90 San diego for $199 at newegg. In benchmarks, its no different than the One i listed.

thats what i was referring to so people dont get confused about this and the .90 sandy wich oc's alot better then this one.

Newegg had the FX-55 at 139$ before I believe :p
I don't think it's worth the price =/
Im pretty noobish but I doubt the performance increase from a 3700+ would be worth the price or at least the price difference ($50).
Better to save an additional 40 and buy a e6300.

LOL That would be nice, But, That means New Mobo, and 2 gig of DDR2 and then were talking Major coin.

Anyways, The clawhammer will overclock fine for what its needed for. Its also alot faster overclocked than the 3700+ Sandi i have now.

The Clawhammer does not support SSE3, C&Q, nor the NX bit. For $105 I think the Opteron 148 is a better chip for a better price.

It probably wouldn't be hard at all to slang the free hard drive for $50 or so. I bet the San Diego gets up to 3ghz or a little more. I'g guess 2.8ghz for the clawhammer. Seems worth it for the extra 200mhz. It's probably just enough to max out an oc'd x1900xt(x).

Thats the reason i bought it. At this time, i cant get my 3700 past 2.5 so i figure the extra 300-400Mhz was worth the $119 i paid for the clawhammer. I got this thing just for the sake of getting it and seeing what it will do. Im doing a total rebuild in about 3-4 months, after i see what AMD comes out with to compete with Intel. right now i cant afford a complete rebuild for a conroe system, I sure would love too, but its the price of the memory thats killing me.

Actually the entire clawhammer line supports Cool & Quiet. The only K8s that don't support it are the low end Semprons. This is a Clawhammer with SOI so its not a bad chip per-se. These chips are known to hit 3GHz with good cooling on a good stepping. Plus all the multis are unlocked. If you value SSE3 then you'll want to go for something else though.

Claws were killers back in the day. They are also quite forgiving if you accidentally crank up the VCore a bit too far. Go ask Gautam. :)

Well aparently, This chip at toms CPU charts beats out my 3700+ Sandi in everything, so i figured for the small price after the Paypal $20 off, it wasnt a bad deal. With the cooling my case has, the stock HS from the 3700 should get me to 2.8 easy, and if i turn up some of the 120mm fans a bit i should be OK with 2.9. But getting the right balance would be key. I usually use just the FSB to overclock. Where would i find OC info (after i find out the stepping) for OCing this thing useing the Multi?

Thanks all.

Yah I got the san diego core and was very happy with it Booted out of the box at 3GHz :). Although I sold it and sacrificed clocks for two cores (got my 4600 rolling at 2.6), and wont go back.
