well i keep hearing this bull about the fx 5600 is no better than a gforce 4 well i'm here to squash that bull! no its not faster than the 9700 or 9800pro's but than it's not a 8 piplined card niether.

i'd like to see a gf-4 NOT VOLT MODDED (because my fx 5600 isn't modded) hang with my fx 5600 ultra!

i'm not talking about total scores because i know in 3dmark 2003 the gf-4 can't do all test. i'm talking each seperate test and compare. the only test that the gf-4 out performs the fx is multitexturing. they fx is more advanced than a gf4 with more capabilaties. it's a new ball game boys and girls! get for real.

Well, the first thing you need to realize is that the FX drivers are cheating in 3dm03, they are not rendering any part of the scene "off the rail" and the scores are artificaiily higher b/c of this.

The Ti4600 is a bit faster w/ no FSAA and no AF, but once those are enabled, the FX5600 is a faster card...still not as impressive as an R9500PRO, but better nonetheless.....

i have already searched over the ORB on ti gf4's and there is not one that is runing stock voltages even the ti 4600's and i can't find one that can push to the speeds of my 5600 without having been volt modded. and the ones that are volt modded one beet me in the first test. if you would like to show me a link of a ti 4600 that hasn't been volt modded. than i would be glad to eat my words and delete this post!

and as for the 9500 pro's you also have to ecknowlwlage that the fx has only been if full retail for about a mounth now or a little longer and drivers will only get better. we have saw this before with the release of the g-f 4 new drivers better performance.

Well so far the only thing nVidia has done to "better" their drivers is devise new ways of "cheating".

We have now established that NVIDIA’s Detonator FX drivers contain certain detection mechanisms that cause an artificially high score when using 3DMark®03. We have just published a patch 330 for 3DMark03 that defeats the detection mechanisms in the drivers and provides correct results.

Download the 3DMark03 Patch 330 here:

http://www.futuremark.com/download/?3dmark03patch330.shtml

A detailed audit report of the drivers and 3DMark03 is available at:

EDIT: corrected Links

As far as performance goes in NON 3dm03 apps:

Just do a search for any review, the FX5600ULTRA is basically a step back, or a horizontal move at best from a Ti4600. Notice it falls behind or just manages to outpace the slower Ti4200 in these reviews....

I have heard they're going to re-spin the FX5600ULTA's to maintain a higher core and memory speeds as well, the revision should be available in amonth or so- maybe wait until then if you're dead set on this card.

i'm just trying to state that the fx can't be compared to the gf-4 cause you can't. it's a totaly differant card and gpu is able to handle more input at one time. now if people are saying that the fx is no faster than the 9500 than i couldn't argue, because they are on the same level as fare as capabilities. but the gf-4? come on give me a break !!!!!!!!!!

Well, the 5600 is DX9..for whatever that's worth. The Ti4600 is faster in every single game available today, for whatever that's worth.

And what do you mean by, "...gpu is able to handle more input at one time"?

I think it's perfectly logical to compare them, as the FX5600 is supposed the be the next generation Ti4600. But the FX5600ULTRA is slower in nearly all cases when FSAA and AF are not used, and it lacks the horsepower to take advantage of DX9 games, by the time any DX9 games finally come out.......Did you take a peak at the gaming benchmarks? And subtratc about 26% from your 3dm03 scores.......

Actually it would be the next Ti4400, or Ti4200..the 5800 Ulatra would be the next Ti4600 ;)

do reviews not use the cards they are benchmarking these days?

i'm not talken stock speeds i'm talken fully overclocked with no modd to the card. i don't know about you but i don't play games at lame stock speeds that nvidia has set for the cards! the cards have good potential there just choked down. like the cat on the exaust of you car, take it off and you'll get alittle more horse power.:D
