Hi, this is my first post on this forum, and im pretty much a n00b when in comes to hardware matters.

I recently purchased a gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939 and two 512mb sticks of crucial (CT6464Z40B) DDR400 ram, however, according to the windows directx diagnostic tool, i only have 256mb. Ive tried to check in the BIOS, however the manual is fairy inconsistant...it doesnt actually tell you how much memory you have where it's supposed to, and i can't find it anywhere else.
Ive know that the ram is in the right configuration, as the mobo wont let you install it any other way (left to right, with one stick in each bank). I was wondering if anyone else had, or is having similar trouble, and if anyone could provide a solution.

I have the same board. Make sure you have the chips in Dual Channel mode, they are color coded purple & orange. Make sure you have both sticks in purple, or both sticks in the orange slots.

Also, you may have to manualy set the memory timmings in the BIOS (hit Ctl + F1 while in BIOS setup for advanced "tweaking" features).

If you need timmings for your memory, just go to the Crucial website.

Also, make sure you update your BIOS to F7, the latest BIOS from Gigabyte.

WELCOME :)

Thanks alot for the help everyone, i did'nt expect such a fast response. I tried the program rseven suggested, and its saying i have 1024mb, which is kind of a relief, however, directx diagnostic is still saying i have 256, as is the BIOS. I'm going to try what Motley suggested now so I'll see how it goes. Once again, thanks for all the help, its much appreciated.
