Ok folks, so I recently purchased a brand spanking new Netgear DG834N 300mbs Pre-N router/adsl modem and a matching WN311B Pre-N wireless pci card. links for them here -

Whilst I know N isnt fianllised yet I really need something with the strength and coverage to penetrate my house and still deliver fast enough speeds.

So heres my problem - the router set up went perfectly, and I locked down all the security as tight as itl go - the works. I enable the wireless on it, and head upstairs to set up the pci card. Installation of the card goes without a hitch - latest drivers install, the card has power and the arial is all hooked up properly.
However, when I try and search for my home network nothing shows up...card status utility shows 0% signal strength...nothing found at all. Ok, so I turn 'broadcast SSID' back on temporarily on the router.....pci card still finds nothing. SSID back off again, and I begin to wonder if the router isnt on properly.
So i fire up my wireless tablet pc (has built in wireless-b) and roam the house with it - FULL strength signal from my router in every room - even 100% strength in the room with my main pc in. Not only that but the tablet finds 4 other active networks from surrounding houses!!! Ok, so the wireless router is active then and signal is good...why the hell cant my pre-n card see anything then??? it cant see my network or any of the other passing through!

The antenna for it is unobstructed and pointed straight at roughly where my router is downstairs...still nothing. Swap the pci slot its installed in and double check the antenna connection on the back - nothing. Take the antenna off...card doesnt even notice :(
If my old b standard tablet can see stuff, why not the pre-n?

Last detail...in the card utility it constantly shows as scanning channel 11 for signal...now I have no way of changing what channel the card scans on, and channel 11 isnt an option on my router...only 5-9 - iv tried all the channels on my router, still no reception from the card.

Have contacted the store I bought it from...they told me it must be user error and they wont take it back...Netgear havent replied to my support request in over a week. Im currently using the router via 25m of cat5 cable - the mrs isnt impressed!

Can anyone help??

cheers guys!

They say it is user error, but can't provide you a solution? How's that for customer service? :\ Man, as much as I hate to say it, your card might be dead. Considering the fact that you have done everything you can to make it work, and the brilliant folks over at the place of purchase can't seem to help you either, you might just try buying another one. This time, at a place that has a not-so-ridiculous return policy. But, hey. I am just a noob so I don't blame you if you wanna wait for some more "detailed" replies.
