For those wondering about the 6600 overclocking capabilities...

I managed to overclock my geforce 6600 gt oc from [email protected] to [email protected] with the zalman vf-700 and as5 (oc w/ coolbits). I am running at about 39 degrees C at idle and about 53ish full load. The full load is my best guess since all I can do is minimize a game to the temp setting and I don't have a vga temp recorder. I could go further if I had more case fans. They are blowing out really warm air now.

I am at school right now, but my benchmarks are about 13K for 3dmark 2001se, over 5K for 03, over 3K for 05, and over 44K for aquamark3. I didn't see much improvement when going from [email protected] on stock cooling to the zalman b/c my processor is holding me back. I should have at least on in the 3 GHz range or equivalent.

I run an
athlon xp 2200 (1.8@133) oc to (2.2 @160)
Rosewill 450W PSU
(1) SATA Seagate 80 GB HDD
1280MB pc3200 (1024MB dual channel)
BFG geforce 6600 GT oc (from [email protected] to [email protected])

^^^Yeah, you definitely need to upgrade your processor and get some better airflow!
I was using an XP 2600+ w/1gig kingston pc2700 and 6600 GT AGP and scored 7300 and 3100 with everything stock.
Oc'ed to 570/1.18 (stock cooling), it went to 7800 and 3400.

I just upgraded to A64 3400+ and pc3200 ram, and see huge performance jump. I haven't run 3dmark again because it was time for a format when I upgraded.

You should definitely be able to get better oc than that...The GT's are beasts for the price.
Do you have any fans bringing air in, or just exhaust fans?

I just have 2 80mm case fans exhaust. Since I am only 16 and working minimum, I plan on either saving up like $600 and getting a board w/ dual pc express, 4 dimms, and athlon based with a case with like 5 or 6 fans. Who knows, I may just buy an xp 3200 and overclock to give me some more time to save. You know, athlon xp's are cheap so I'll just shop around and maybe sell the other 2200 on ebay or save it for another system. I still have some as5 left and a using a huge copper heatsink. I'll have to see (1) if heatsink supports up to 3200 or 3800, I think 3200 and (2) if my mobo can go over 400MHz fsb (prob. not since I can't oc my memory. If I accidentally get it to 201MHz it'll hang and die.
