Picked up a Gefore 7900gs OC the other day. Stock Clocks of 525/1320.

First thing I did was pull the heatsink and put on some AS5. The card would Idle at 45-47 and Full Load around 66.

The core would OC to around 600 but I backed it off to 590 to be totally Artifact free in ATItool. The memory went to 1648.

Not bad Overclocks but I wanted more. So I picked up an Artic Silencer 6 Rev2 and did the simple volt mod to bump the core voltage up to 1.4 from the default 1.2

So far the Core is doing 650 :clap: and I haven't played with the Memory yet as I'm still testing the Limits of the Core.

The card also Idles right around 45-47 and full Loads in the low 60's.

So far I'm very pleased. :attn:

This is really encouraging. I baught the evga one for $194 off ncix's black friday sale. its not the same card exactly, clocked at 450 stock but im hoping it will give me some similar results.
I would be curious to see the voltmod on this card. mine will be watercooled so, please share =O

Simply connect the 2 points on the card using a conductive pen or something similar.

Red is 0.05 volts over stock, Yellow is 0.1, and Purple is 0.2.

675 is alot

i have my card set at 630/1780 and it Runs really good other than my card even stock runs REALLY HOT

tomorrow i get my vf900 :clap:

I'm really Liking this Arctic Silencer Rev 6. Temps never exceed 65 even with the additional voltage and its dead Silent.

Also I found a Bug with ATITool, it displays the memory frequency as half of what it should be, now i thought this was just a display bug but it turns out it was actually running at half speed. It also seems to have some other weird random things going on so I'm going to switch to Rivatuner.

Just got my card today, unfortunatly my whole watercooling rig will need to be revised to make room for the card <_< but ill be posting some enhanced stock results soonish =)
very encouraging results so far. that puts this card in the GTX range =O

thats is the speed if you were in single channel mode

double it if your running a dual channel set up (meaning 2 ram dimm's)

The Ram runs stock at 660, which is 1320.

ATITool would report the ram speed as 330...so it would only be running at 660.

Well I think I've found a good Stable setting of 684/1784.

As for some Benchmarks...

3D03 = 22,368

3D05 = 11,008

3D06 = 6,618

awwwwwsome =O I still havent done any mods to mine, got similar results to you on the stock air cooling scene, 594 core. maybe ill ghetto up my watercooling for just the card and do the voltmod.
the fan on this thing is so irritating compared to liquid cooling.

I just got the EVGA 7900GS and I'm using the coolbits entry in the NVIDIA control panel. Problem is that I can't up the memory any more because there is no room left on the slider. It only goes to 1656 and I can't push it any more becuase I have the bar all the way to the right. Is there a way to extend the range or do I have to switch software?

well. this card runs at 1360gddr, so if you can get that 1600 out of it even, kudo's. I just downloaded the new rivatuner to do it. goes to 675core and 1.8ghz memory. unless you do the voltmod, you wont get even close to 675, so it gives you ample room to work.

mine isnt stable at 600core. just locks up, so maybe a voltage limit or heat. when i get the water up, ill have some fun =D

Well I'm getting mine to 630/1656 now without the mod. I don't think I need to volt mod it yet. I just fried one a couple weeks ago and this one is only a day old.

I think if I'm getting 630 without even pushing it I could hit 675 easy with some more power. I'm not trusting the temp reading though. It's saying 35 idle, 44 load. None of my cards have run that cool.

is there a vdimm mod for this card that doesnt take a lot more work than the vcore? got my water system back in tonight and im gonna get a pen tommorrow.
mine wont quite run 600core even under water, so mine needs the voltage hike bad.
tommorrow ill post my results of my evga. good thread this. these cards are like $170 usd or somthing stupid heh.

Which version do you have? I have the KO version that's on sale at newegg right now. I was surprised that it has gone as high as it has. I'm being gentle with this one though. Backed off to 600/1600 for now until I hit a game where I can tell it slows down. Playing Prey right now and that played well on my 6800 so I don't need to push it all that hard.

mine isnt the ko model, just the plain jane 450/630 version that was on sale for $175 cdn this weekend on ncix. Did some fiddling under water and she runs 595/737, far cry from your 16xx on memory. ill get a pen today and see if i can find some low pro ramsinks. i might get a zalman and steal its ramsinks heh.
so far my full load temp is 37, running the HDR demo full screen overnight.
Im so impressed i got the cooling to fit in with this bigger card ha ha. the pump is kinda jammed between the back of the fan and the gpu heh. sometimes micro atx loses its novelty =\

My Card is the BFG OC, it has the Hynix 1.4 Ram so it clocks quite well.

There's a Pencil mod you can do to the Ram, its the same as the 7900GT so just search around.

Also I upped my core Voltage to 1.45 and it really didn't seem to help much so I think I'll just back it down to 1.4v and be happy with that.
