Whats up,

When my onboard ac'97 sound is enabled, the sound in games is all screwed up along with the mouse and video performance. When sound is disabled games and mouse work perfectly. I noticed that my geforce3 ti 200 and the onboard ac'97 audio both use IRQ 11. Is this the problem, if so how do I fix it? Device manager will not allow me to change IRQ. How would I get around this? Or is it time to buy a new audio card? Thanks for any help.

I also have my FSB up at 148.

On newer motherboards, anything connected through the PCI bus uses the same IRQ. It's called IRQ Sharing. It's implemented so that more than 5 or 6 devices can be attached to a computer. Right now i have Vid Card, Snd, Card, Network Card, and 4 USB devices all on IRQ 7.

I think if anything it's probably the overclock, maybe the sound card doesn't like it, these are one of the problems, along with network cards, they limit many overclocks.

It may be the sound too, My AC'97 wasn't that great, I find that even a cheap Fortissimo 2 is much better quality than AC'97. Usually onboard video and sound aren't up to par with what most people want.

I dont believe that all your devices run with them all on 7, not likely at all. If you want to move the video, first find out if you have free irq's. You can free up irq's by removing com ports in the device manager and then disabling them in the bios. Then unistall your video card and reinstall. It should have moved to a free irq. Keep in mind that most new bios you can force irq assignments or set to auto assign. You may want to remove the sound and reinstall that to move it also.
