Just wondering who is running a GeForce2 MX card and your honest opinion of it and maybe even why you chose it. I can get one for about 50$.
I looked at getting a voodoo5 5500 but wow that card is huge. plus it's 100$.

Thanks for your input

You'll get better performance with the Geforce2 than with any voodoo card, with the exception of Glide apps like Unreal Tournament, which excel tremendously with voodoo and glide.

I have used both the Geforce 256 and geforce 2, both exceptional cards with great effects features. You will be pleased.

I don't see what all the fuss is about with the GeForce 2 MX cards. I'v got one and it works great on Quake 3 and UT. It makes my old voodoo 3 card look like junk. My GeForce never has any problems. So what if I can't overclock it, The thing works just fine like it is now. I like it.

What do you mean you can;t overclock it? do you choose not to or the card screwes up after you try?

I am very happy with my gf2 mx and it overclocks pretty decent ,so waht if a voodoo beats it in ut , I get over a 100fps in ut myself and dont know what you would want with more , this is at 32 bit and 1024X768 , in my opinion you cant beat it

Thanks guys. I found a good deal on a Leadtek 32 meger.
I did know that glide apps ran faster on a voodoo card but as said here who needs more than 100FPS.

What I ment by not being able to OC the card is that the ram on the GeForce MX cards hold them back form any large gains in overclocking. Sure you can overclock it but don't expect to get too far. The RAM on this chip is too cheep and holds it back.

Leadtek card I have came with 5NS hyundai ram, pretty sweet for $113 (dual display pro) -- check out my specs below... I swear by leadtek, both geforce cards I've had were top notch and highly overclockable.

i couldent be happier with my geforce2 mx its a sweet card it supports agp4x and sidebanding runs counterstrike at 100fps "rather pegs due to halflifes capped fps"and if u pull off the heatsink and lap the bottom and put some ars on there and some heatsinks on your ram you can overclock the hell out of them

I had a hercules prophet geforce2 mx and I found it to be a great card. Replaced the old hsf and put a larger one on and it oc'd pretty well. Not that you'll really get much perfomance improvement oc'ing it besides maybe a few more points in 3Dmark.

I just overclocked my gf2mx32 for the first time ive added a huge HSF cut down to fit from another CPU. this was my first try and i have not tried to see how far it will go, i'm running the det12.40 drivers and dx8a stock it ran 2175 in 2001 and with the overclock 2616 i'm hoping with a few more tweaks i can get into the 3000 range also i'm running 2x because my PC is overclocked with high agp speeds. Still wont be real great scores but you dont see any scores when your gaming anyway :) most software does not even utilize all of the video cards potential anyway thats why i'm holding off on the GF3 for a while until software catches up a little more, one of my buddies has a gf2 64 and we put both PC's on the same monitor and you could not see a difference while playing DeltaForceLandWarrior. I know some of you guys can see a difference but for me its not worth the extra 300 just yet.

Great input guys....

It's nice to hear such great reports....

I read all the reviews but that is not always real life. I play alot of Q2 / Q3 and some UT I know it is a little slower for UT but I think it will be fine.

Thanks

Those are better specs than what mine would get. I also have a Leadtek card but could only get it to run about 200/200 then the ram got flakey on me. It has been sugested that I put some ram sinks on the chips but I havn't gotten arround to it yet. Maybe with those and a fan blowing accrost them I can reach the next level.

I saw these on madonion for ya outhouse.
it supposed to be if you go there and D/L that, that the GeForce 3 will run at AGP 4x.
This is the link to the thread on madonion...take a look if you wish
