well.. for some reason now im at 2.8ghz. not mad :) so i will run tests tonight!

bump.. ran tests for my q8200 and it was fine for 14 hours i believe. so may try n bump that up to about 2.85 or so. but ive figured out i do want the E8400 and planning on getting one next week for a trade of my chip.

Yeah sounds like your board will play better with the E8400.Its just weird i never had any problems with my P35 boards and quads. But that was with mostly Q6600's I think.Which i had 3 of.Im almost sure i had the Q9400 on a P35 but it may have been my ASUS P5E X38

yeah, and as of now it seems like my board is doing well with the overclock need better ram but have that coming in a couple days. so i think that would help. but also im almost at my max vcore so maybe that will restrict me soon if i were to keep this chip. but im hoping the E8400 does better for me!
and do you happen to know if my board will run crossfire i only have 1 pcie x16 so im assuming not?

Person 1: No its not the ram.
Person 2: No its not the ram.
Person 3: No its not the ram.

Tandserson: Im got new ram on teh way..

But in all seriousness, 1066 ram will get you where you need to go with that dual most of us also reccomended against.

:)

hah so the 1066 ram is good, but you dont think the E8400 is going to be better for me than the Q8200. eh. i feel it will be used more efficiently. i am almost done using dreamweaver for the class and dont plan on doing much outside of class using dreamweaver as of now. so if i really need to, i can go back and get a quad in the near future. but from what ive read the E8400 jsut seems more solid to me and i cant get my quad up much higher especially since im almost at the max vcore.

I dont see the point in downgrading to a dual from a quad, no.

I really think you should spend the money on the board I have ($130) and o/c the heck out of your quad.

I went from a Q6600 to a E8400 on my Asus P5K P35 mobo just for higher overclocking. I really didn't notice any gaming improvement and I really don't remember what my fps were before the switch. I was overclocked to 3.6 GHz on the Q6600 and can't get past 4.1 GHz on my E8400 C0 so make sure you get a E0 stepping for higher OC.

i am wanting to get it bc i cant get past 2.8 right now on my Q8200 and wont be able to go much above 3.0 def. not get into 3.5ghz and if i get to 4.0+ out of the E8400 that would probably bring more performance for me.

I hope it works out for you.I never liked duals once i had a quad.I still had that urge for more GHZ and went back to duals a few times but always within a few weeks id go back to my Quads. I can tell you id take a Quad at 3.2 to 3.6ghz over a 4ghz dual core any day.Now if they could make a dual core i7 that might change

yeah but i dont know if i can even get my quad that high. but i may only have it till march then upgrade my mobo and cpu at the same time.

its not the ram... again. ive OCed a quad on a p35 before no problemo.. almost. THAT problem was because of my friends 667 MHz ram. stupid ram..... please use better spelling :)

ya i like the P45-UD3P boards, but idk if itll squeeze in my case its about an inch longer i believe than the one i have and doesnt look like i have an inch to spare. and not sure what kind of case it is either. but i do like that board and wouldnt mind it
