Dear debators... please save yourself some time and anguish..

Google these terms...: techspot [name of game] review

For example... "techspot battlefront review" and go here:

Or Doom: http://www.techspot.com/review/1173-doom-benchmarks/page5.html

They have reviewed many titles with high end cards where sometimes you can see a big difference. Sometimes you see a little difference. Sometimes there isn't a difference. The amd processors, while perfectly acceptable gaming processors , in some titles, put a glass ceiling on high end cards.

In essence, you two are both right. One, it isn't a huge deal in FPS as most titles with the 1080 are well over where it matters, but you are seeing in the two examples above its like 9% and 18% difference... again sometimes none. Two... an Intel it isn't CLOSE to $500 more vs 8370...maybe half that. And worth the FPS is certainly up to the owner. It isn't a big deal...but it's certainly real and can be significant.

But...but...but...If we don't play these games ourselves how can we really know??? Besides, swapping out hardware with a dour and somber air about us, to replicate old data, is kind of what we do, isn't it? Everybody needs a hobby fer Gawd's sake...

edit: Some of us can't afford to snag the SOTA every couple months and provide fresh data (example: I will NOT be getting a 1080Ti) so we're stuck verifying other sources. Yes, it's silly. But my "new" $h1t is new $h1t for a limited time. Gotta do something in my spare time. :)

Yeah, and the problem there is a $79 Intel board is at no disadvantage to a $200 AMD board. Problem being you're looking at $179 minimum to play with the big boys on a FX board. Want to get close(er) to a Skylake? Big OC, which means not cheap mobo. I was a fanboy, can't deny it. But I'll put my current rig up against any FX rig out there in hard numbers. And my CPU is officially yesterday's news.

My post was really intended to defuse an escalating situation between members... not to dissuade others from more testing on existing data. ;)

You should also do it in a new thread since this has little to do with the he OP and and lot more to do with the sidebar tangent that tocnoob started.. ;)

Oh, absolutely. I'm bad about cluttering up other people's threads. I really need to try harder. And I didn't think you, of all people, would try to discourage testing. LOL

It wasn't going to escalate any further. Believe me. ;)
