Due to the mass of power foldings blowing past me as of recent, I used to be comfortably in the top 80, but now am at 103rd :bang head which just won't do!

So.... I just upgraded the wifes rig to an AMD X2, and just ordered my very own Phenom 9550  Look for a surge of power from me in about a week!

FOLD ON!

Good luck JDNXC! Yeah, competition at the top looks tough.

Not really anyone to race down here on page 9...except either those who whizz past, or those that don't fold SMP, or the many inactive users.

My Quad is up :D Just did a quick and dirty clock to 2.6Ghz at stock volts till I find more time, Prime was stable for a half hour, will let it fold over night, that will be the true test.

Let's see some ppd numbers on that Phenom @ 2.6. :)

Well Its only been Folding for a lil bit now and I'm off to bed but she looks pretty good on a 2653:

[03:30:51] Writing local files
[03:30:51] Completed 280000 out of 500000 steps (56 percent)
[03:30:52] Extra SSE boost OK.
[03:43:26] Writing local files
[03:43:26] Completed 285000 out of 500000 steps (57 percent)
[03:56:03] Writing local files
[03:56:04] Completed 290000 out of 500000 steps (58 percent)

@ 12:35tpf that's ~2014ppd... or ~775ppd/GHz... or ~194ppd/GHz/Core. I assume that's under WinSMP?

For comparison... my Opteron 165 @ 2.9 does ~1280ppd on WinSMP. That's ~441ppd/GHz, and ~221ppd/GHz/Core.

Maybe the Phenom is still bound by the L2 and the L3 really isn't kicking on for Folding? I know my Brisbane @ 3.0GHz makes about 150ppd less than the 165 @ 2.9GHz in WinSMP... so if this observation holds true, the Phenom is definitely being limited by the smaller L2 and the L3 really isn't playing into the picture.

I wonder how this lack of L2 will effect Intel's new Neha design? It would be an extreme disappointment if Neha turned out to be worse for Folding than current generation Core 2. :(

Sorry if I'm kinda crapping your thread... just making some observations. :)

Well as I stated before, it was a quick and dirty OC, from the time I swapped the parts out till Windows was back up running(didn't need to reinstall, it booted fine) was about 2 hours. I still have a lot of tweaking and reading up to do on the Phenom, things shall improve.

Also I'm sure a fresh install in XP will help a lot as well, and yes I'm folding with WinSMP.
