Hi,

I recently setup my computers finally to use gigabit but i am uncertain how to properly test and debug such a setup.

I tried using the sisoft sandra network test and it tells me the connection speeds to some systems are aroudn 45MB/s to 50MB/s but to my brothers computer it is 60MB/s. This on average is close to 50% network bandwidth usage.

Does the speed sound correct? I'm not certain how you would determine a bottle neck? (eg. HDD or chipset) I use CAT5e cable with a NETGEAR 1Gbps switch.

I know for gigabit, the controller matters alot as well. I have marvell, realtek and intel gigabit network adaptors. The intel one is PCI and i was getting 45MB/s to it.
