My internet is crazy.

My modem sometimes just stops receiving for no reason, regardless of the computer I put it in. Now it just doesn't connect sometimes, or takes 20 minutes to. And now it takes like two minutes to load anything. Its horrible.

So I take this hardware modem I find laying around :D and want to use it since I'm sure it'll be much better.

But I can't find the drivers!!

USR 56K v92 I would guess. It says PC98. Its definately a hardware modem. Says its built for OEM and integration use only. It came out of a compUSA computer. I remember it was hard to get the drivers for it.

So can you guys help me..or lead me in the direction. Remember my internet is death, so I can't really go looking for them...

and THANK YOU. You guys know what its like when your internet is screwy.

I just did the Cnet Bandwith Meter. Usually on my P4 with AIM and trillian running I get 33kb/s or so.

On this P2 with the same modem, and this is where I am having great problems, I got a whoppin' 8kb/s!!

That doesnt even make the term "dial up". So now you can see why I want to switch modems. :)

If its a hardware modem you should be able to get it working without specific drivers. HSP modems are the ones that need drivers to even know they're a modem.

yeah, well I don't have ANY drivers..so even if they are not specific I dont have them. So I need something. And I doubt Win98 has anything to offer me.

I did restart though, and I have my bandwith back now. Although it still will stop receiving making me restart, and sometimes disconnecting me for no reason.

I had forgotten my computer had been on a for a few days. :p
