goin with Mandrake 8.2, a few ?'s

im gonna download the iso's for mandrake 8.2(ive been wanting to do this for awhile, but my burner is finally on the way)
i have a few ?'s that i hope penguinfreak or red or another of u linux users can answer me
1] do u see any compatibility probs with the system in my sig? my nic is the intel 10/100 pro, and thats about all thats not listed.
2]does 8.2 come with wine so i can play cs? if not, can i d/l it?
3]what about my mobo drivers? i found geforce3 drivers for mandrake, but nothin about any VIA drivers for linux.
and lastly, anyone know of a site besides linuxiso.org that i can d/l 8.2? reliably like they have it set up as well.
i like the whole linux community and am looking forward to this, a lot. I have conquered windows, now for a new adventure

it doesnt come with wine...the rest im pretty sure that it supports....it intalls mobo drivers automatically....

downloading 8.2? Good luck finding an ftp with it. I finally found one, but I won't tell where it is until I'm done downloading the last iso image. It's not that I'm being rude, I just don't want to share bandwidth. Tonight after work I might throw the iso's up on our ftp server here at work for people on this forum.

It may come packaged with Wine but most people want WineX and unfortunately or fortunately seeing as they have to eat too you have buy the gaming edition to receive that.

thanks for the clarification speedj. i wasn't sure, because when i ran ximian redcarpet i upgraded/installed the latest version of wine(X?) from the codeweavers channel and i wasn't sure if it was already installed or not.

I think Mandrake comes with normal Wine, and yes, you can play CS with normal Wine.

The only compatibility problem I see is with your Audigy. I think there's only a rudimentary driver for it at best, but I don't have one, so I don't really know.

I installed Mandrake 8.1 and wine was an option when choosing what to install.... I believe it is on disk 2. WineX isn't on the free download disks tho.

Wine comes with most recent Linux Distros - Mandrake should be no different. Wine and WineX are available for free download anyway - if you are downloading CD isos then a few more megs should be easy

The system should work - I dont know about the sound card myself. I know that the sound onboard the mobo should work in linux.
