I'm going to build a mid-range (future mid-range I guess) system so I can play DirectX 9 games at least 1024x768 and DirectX 10 at least 800x600.

Are all the parts here compatible? I think this is a fairly good DirectX 10 computer for the price. Should I get 32 or 64 bit Vista? Whichever one will go faster and is more compatible.

Will I need to buy anything extra? I already have..

I'd say 2 GB of memory is all you need. Use the savings on RAM to upgrade to a Western Digital Raptor hard drive.
Even if you don't get a raptor, you can get much more bang for the buck in hard drives than the 80 GB 8 MB caviar.

Do you need an SLI motherboard if you are not using dual Nvidia cards?

definitely cut the ram in half... you can get 2x1gb 6400 for around 120-150 now
i second that on the mobo as well.. you arent even running one nvidia card do you really need an SLi mobo?
harddrive go with either the raptor or seagate barracuda 7200.10
i dont know what the consensus is on that PSU but i think i am staying away from antec for awhile...i would go with a PSU that has an 8pin pci-e connector for that vid card like the silverstone DA or OP series
or even go with the corsair HX series with one of their 8-pin cables
