So I think I am all setup. ATTO benchmarked my old sataII HDD in sig as around 50 mb/sec and the new M4 showed around 250 mb/sec. It's sataIII running in a sataII because my board doesnt have sataIII, but I'm guessing this is still good speeds?

Yep fine speeds for sata2, throughput wont matter a huge amount anyway. You'll notice a HUGE performance increase from the latency reduction though

You should max out the bus with the M4 depending on the drive you purchased 285/275.

128 I think does it, if not update firmware. (Might need to reinstall windows TBH im not clear on that point some are destructive updates some are not). I have never thought of including that information till now.

Nice, also it has firmware 0009 and I read the only fix for 0309 and it wasnt for improved performance like 0009 was. My windows index score went from 5.3 to 5.9 (Vista max at 5.9 I believe). Overall I guess i'm satisfied so far. Though windows update after a clean windows install has taken up 11gb of space so far.
