Help me people, i just bought a new 8KHA+ and was expecting a lot of it as i previously had had an xp333 which was slow as hell. The thing is, at default speeds this board is very impressive, however whenever i try to overclock it i get nowhere.

I can max ram settings out no problem. But getting my fsb to higher frequencies prooves a problem. Im not bothered what frequency i run at as long as its past 1500mhz.

For some reason i exceed 133fsb and i get mouse loading all the time in windows. Quake3, Tribes2 and any other accelerated games keep showing the mouse loading near the cursor and after about 30 seconds the game crashes. What is causing this?

Its not memory, i know mine runs good at 165fsb cl8882222 from my iwill. I doubt its processor because i tried ~1400mhz at 150fsb and it still did it. I've upped vio dimm voltage and cpu voltage all to no avail. Personally I think it has something to do with PCI Bus speeds. Please can someone tell me how to fix this bug.

Thanks.

Ive tried both the new one and the one before that, both cause a problem.

ATM im running rock stable at 1466mhz 133fsb max ram timings. Very good performnace, but i want more.

It may be worth your while trying one of the earlier BIOS releases (the 8KHAL00.bin is still my favourite, and I get good results with it.) In my experience, memory sticks can work fine in one mobo, but switch them to another, and they can be the worst sticks ever. Try a different stick if you can, or failing all that, come join the XP brigade!

Let us know how you get on!

Well i cant overclock my processor or ram in this board correctly.

I hit about 1500mhz before i get unstable (1615 on the XP333 and 1575 on the 8K7A).

I hit 180fsb on the iwill at cl 2.5 3 3 and 152fsb cl8882222 on the 8k7a board. On this i get stuck at 133fsb cl 222 best timings. I've tried failsafe timings at higher fsb and i still get that mouse bug in games.

Can someone please tell me why it is doing that. I dont have a problem in windows applications at 150fsb, but games dont like it. I think its an EXTREME PCI Divisor (maybe agp running at >100fsb instead of usual 66)

I dont know this of course because nowhere tells me the pci divisor or what the pci bus is running at. Even si-soft sandra which told me on other boards doesnt tell me on this one.

Also, one thing i dont like about this board is where the processor socket is located (about 2 inches right of the standard). This causes a problem as i modified my case for default location and i notice that my temps are about 2-3ºC higher with the new location.

However, I wont send this board back because the performance is awesome. Im getting acceptable fps in tribes2, and its actually playable. But i fear that when more demanding games come out (Unreal2 and Doom3) my comp is going to be too slow to be fun. I wont have the money to buy an XP like you guys have.

My friend said he had the same bug as I did, but he couldnt remember how he fixed it. Its not software because the artifacting (so to speak) doesnt occur at 133fsb but does at higher fsbs.

Thanks for your help everyone.

OK through self experimenting i've gotten somewhere.

I upped my ram voltage to a nutter at 3.0v and got 140fsb working fine. Thankfully i have excessive ram cooling so i should be ok at that voltage. I cant get 150fsb to work correctly at 3.0v i would probably need 3.2v but im not happy about that sort of voltage.

If anyone else has had something similar happen plz tell it might help.

Mouse Pointers In Game

I had the same mouse pointer problems. When I would load a game, the mouse pointer would constantly blink it's busy signal over my game. It is a conflict that bugged the hell out of me for a week now. It is my Audigy card and I had that figured out from the start. If I remover my NIC card and left PCI 2,3,4 empty, all worked fine, oh yeah and did I mention PCI 6 empty. Finally I figured it out. If you are still haveing the problem let me know and I will help you out. I ma not going to waste my time writing it out if you are no longer having the problem.

That's a whole lot of memory voltage!! What kind of 'excessive ram cooling' are you using??
