Hello, I’m not best on hardware, actually I’m not best on nothing regarding PC and i need community help please.
The release of 50xx makes me think to upgrade my ZOTAC trinity 3080ti. Nothing against 3080ti but i don’t like this ZOTAC
My first option was a RTX 3090 Rog Strix OC but with 150usd extra i found a half year old 4080 Super Gigabyte Windforce v2.
What should i choose???
That 3090 it’s on of the best version made but a few years old used card with a bit cheaper price
About the 4080 I read many bad things but better performance on paper, still on warranty

I'd wait until 5000 series comes out in a couple of weeks. Assuming 1440p or less a 5070 will like be plenty and close to 4080 performance.

In addition to answering above, what's your budget?

My budget it’s around 8-900usd maximum. I’m casual player, I don’t care so much about 4k. About budget, I live in Norway where everything it’s more expensive including SH market. I don’t think the new 5070ti will match my budget here unfortunately.

And frankly a 3080ti is still more than sufficient for 1080p especially if you aren't doing high refresh rate with RT. And even for 1440p as well

I want to upgrade my GPU and my choice are:
1) Rog Strix 4080 super OC
2) ZOTAC 4080 super AMP Extreme Airo
3) MSI 4080 (non super) Gaming X Trio
1. and 2. same price few months old in warranty, 3. 250 usd cheaper no warranty.

Please live your opinion!! Thanks

... it comes down to you and how much you want to spend and if you want a warranty or not...

That said, all of those cards are less than 3 years old... shouldn't they still be under warranty?

Me..... if I can afford it, I'd want the card with a warranty.

EDIT: So..............what resolution do you game at?????? If you're at 1080p... a 4070/4070 Super would be plenty for the next few years too...

Also, you started a theard already on this same subject. Please stick to one thread per subject (in this case, upgrading your GPU). I merged the two threads.

A 5070. (Which was mentioned in post 6) Not a Ti just a 5070.
I live in Norway and a 50xx will be hard to get now, will be more expensive and a 4080 it’s more than enough for me. I know that I don’t need this upgrade actually.
i just want to make a good choice now between those models because i want to use se that card another few years

1. What happened to the 3090? 2. What is the price of each individual card?

No point in ramming the 5070 down the guy's throat if he doesn't want/won't be able to get it. (Even though his options are getting kinda confusing...)

So we're down to ROG vs Zotac... wherein I'd probably go for the ROG.

I would expect zero difference between 1 and 2 in terms of performance... and if you can afford 1 or 2... then you don't really need that 250 bucks from option 3. (Especially not if you're from Norway...) so I'd just go for #1.

Problem solved. Order it.

You can buy it from any large EU online store like Proshop (shipping probably from Denmark) or Caseking (Germany). I live in Poland and have no problems shipping from other EU countries. Prices are +/- the same; they only calculate your local VAT. Shipping costs about 10-15 EUR.

The RTX4080 and Super perform not much differently, but the MSI's lack of warranty is weird. I wouldn't buy expensive graphics cards without any warranty. All leading brands give 3-4 years of warranty, and the RTX4080 was released ~2 years ago.
I have mixed feelings about Zotac's quality. Some cards are good, some are below average. For sure, I wouldn't pick it over ASUS.

I was a bit confused because I don’t know much about those components and I tried to take best decision because even if I live in Norway I’m not rich at all. If I was rich I was buying best 4900 now until best 5090 was available 😂 and don’t ask questions. Then I understand that a 4 year old used I don’t know how card, it is a risk factor and I cut 3090 from the list. I have chosen those cards 1,2,3 from a much bigger collection on SH marketplace because I considered best option. Then i asked again here.
I don’t want a 50xx because i don’t care so much about performance, actually it’s not me who plays it’s my 14 years old son. I’m sure 50xx will be better but i got this 4080S like 250usd under listed price for cheaper 5070 and that’s makes me happy. And i don’t want because i really don’t know when i can buy one from the store
I have already bought the 4080S RogStrix because I like the look, because I can use same app to control the Rog Riujin , 4080 and all RGB lights on my PC and mainly because I think it’s a great card. I hope I don’t make a mistake

lol, hilarious. You bought it already. Glad we all took the time to help. Enjoy your card! :)

Edit: just an fyi... the 5070 is a $549 card (msrp) when it releases. Well under your budget (you probably can buy one new, pay vat and shipping, for less than you paid for the 4080s...which was used?) and like woomack said, there are places to get it. I'm curious how many usd did you pay for your 4080?

So in the end... as always... RAINLESS WAS RIGHT! ROG it is! Great call!

Yeah that's just an American MYTH. Dimi and I will NEVER see anything remotely resembling a $549 5070.

And by "remotely resembling"... I mean it will likely not be less than $750-$850 dollars (700-800) euros.

Don't get me wrong... I intend to scheme and connive and do everything in my power to get my hands on a $549 5070... even if I have to import one from the States... but I KNOW there will be no such thing here or in all of Europe... or Japan... or any other country outside of the U.S. that I've ever lived in.

It WILL NOT exist.

And NORWAY?!? Forget about it.

Le sigh....what I had already taken into account was that the dude was buying a, currently, $1,000 USD card. So, even at $750/the same cost as an inflated new card (and his '$250 below cost'), a 5070 would be a better deal... and be under warranty for 3 years. Also worth a mention is what 4080 prices can potentially do in a week or so (likely drop). the biggest problem is we don't know a lot of information, like... what the actual cost was of the 4080 he bought. If he snagged a NEW one for under $750, then you lucked into being correct. We're asking questions (not getting answers) to try to get to the bottom of it. Nobody was 'jamming it down his throat'... we were searching for the best deal and the dude went off a bought a card. SMFH....

I wonder how much he paid for his 4080S (and if it's under warranty - sounds like used pricing......)... that would tell us if it was the right choice...not your huberis.

Norway it’s not EU and I must pay taxes, pay custom documents etc, that will add more cost.
About 4080s same option, the Rog Strix it’s payed and on my way to me.
