So my GeForce2 GTS-V is getting a little long in the tooth, I just installed Ghost Recon the other day and realized I'm in need of an upgrade. I'd like to stick with a Nvidia GPU and I'd like to keep this fairly cheap ($100 or less) I see NewEgg still has the Gainward GF3 Ti200 Golden Sample cards in 64mb and 128mb flavors for $74 and $88. There are plenty of GF4 MX cards in that price range but I'm not sure that an MX card would give the performance of the GF3 Ti200. The GF4 Ti4200 cards are still over the $100 limit. And I dont know anything about the low-end FX cards. Just looking to get the best bang for the buck.
I'm not running a high-end machine, just a 1.1a Celery o/c to 137fsb with 512mb Ram. Suggestions and advice please.

If you hold on a little while, Newegg are bound to break the $100.00 barrier with a Ti 4200.
I leapfrogged past the GF3 series cards, but I understand they are still nice cards.

Though I know this is the Nvidia section, unless you are really against ATI, I wouldn't count out a deal on an 8500. They are nice cards, and with careful shopping, I believe they can be had for less than $100.00.

If you look around there are a few Ti4200 64mb cards for under $100 usd but for 10 or 20 more, you can find 128mb cards.

Newegg has an xFX 128mb card for $119 shipped.

I would wait till the 4200 drops below $100 or save untill you cn afford it. It will be worth it, most can O/C somewhere between a 4400 and 4600. Stay away from the MX cards. They have the features, but most have about the same power of a Geforce2.

There are many places on pricewatch offering the 64 meg 4200ti for under $105 w/ shipping. Another option is ebay, where you should be able to get a 128 meg version for the same price or less. Now, if you can wait 2 -3 months, you would probably be able to pick up a GFFX 5600 regular and maybe ultra for just over a $100. These cards offer about the same performance as the 4200ti but they are almost twice as fast once you turn on AF & AA and they are DX9 so the card could last you a while (like your GF2). At the moment the 5600 regulars are going for about $150 but Nvidia will be launching their NV36 by the end of the summer and this product will push the 5600s from mid range video cards to the low end price point.....right around a hundred bucks!

Check the newegg refurbs...they go under $100 all the time there. Some people don't like refurbed stuff, but I've bought several refurb video cards from them and they all run great, one has been for over a year now. Also, I bought a 64meg refurb one for 89 dollars about 2 months ago, it came in as a 128 :> So you may get luckier than you think!
