I read that it is coming out in June, why is it going to take so much longer than the PS2 version.

because sony has a deal with rockstar to keep it exclusive to ps2 for awhile...or thats what i think anyways :p

Yeah, it's something around 6 months exclusive and then they can launch it to whomever. Resident Evil is solely nintendo now I hear though.

Is there a PC release date set?

I heard back in November that they were going to release it for PS2 as well, sometime in the early spring or summer of 2k5. I guess we'll see.

Yes, they supposedly are. Unfortunately, Capcom is going to have to seriously castrate the game aesthetically in order to run on aging PS2 hardware. As a matter of fact, Leon is supposed to lose half of his polygons in the move to the sony system. And let's not forget the visual slowdown that occurs in some of the PS2's busy games, too. I think they'd be much better off keeping it as a Gamecube only offering :-/

Not totally true yes the Gamecube has more ploygons, but so does the xbox have more polygons then a gamecube! but it all depends on the hardware playstation is Very good at textures thats why Soul calibur 2 looks best on PS2 i no ( i got all versionS) and we have great looking games like Gran turismo on outdated hardware looking better then more powerfull consoles! yes ploygons help but is it not the way the hardware implements the game engine?

I.E look at HL2 it runs sweet on an mx440 and farcry does not!

I think they are calling it GTA4, Vice City and San Andreas were more like expansions. Kind of like what London was for GTA 1 I guess.

It is about the hardware running the software; unfortunately, the ps2 is very much dated, and it's antiquity will only be noticed by a game like RE 4. I take it you haven't played this yourself......perhaps then you would see what I mean.

Yeah True but do you not think, they will find away around it? it may not be as smooth but they always suprise on consoles

Because it is a hardware issue, there is no real way to circumvent this. The only way that Capcom will be able to make RE4 playable by any means on the PS2 is with a serious deterioration of graphics that made the Gamecube version so stunning. Of course, there are workarounds across any platform, but they often involve the use of techniques like fog which, aside from having no place in the game, offer no true aesthetical value to the title itself.

I'm pretty sure that RE4 will still be a great game on the PS2, but it is sure to be marred with slowdown (ala Devil May Cry 2) and take a noticeable hit aesthetically.
