GTA V: can a single GTX 980Ti play it at max settings?

GTA V had definitely put my GTX 780 in its place (particularly w/its lack of VRAM) and even in the benchmarks shows a lot more CPU usage than GTA IV ever did.

Would getting a GTX 980Ti allow for playing GTA V w/maximum graphics details and maybe 4x MSAA @ 1600x1200 or 2x MSAA @ 3200x2400 DSR?

I can play gta5 at max settings at 1080p with my single 980, non ti, on a single monitor, and still get a good frame rate.

A comment from ED's quoted techspot article on the GTX 970:

"I think you should've thrown in some maximum and minimums in here. Playing with my EVGA GTX 970 SC on 1080p Max settings, I have do have the average 60FPS if I'm not doing anything intensive, however driving down the highway in a police chase - where the frame rate is more crucial - it drops to about 20 which is playable, if not fluid, and I got the odd stuttering."

Wow. I wonder how one of the 4 GiB GTX 770's would do w/GTA V? I wonder how SLI'd 4 GiB GTX 770's run w/modern games?

An even better comment from ED's quoted techspot article:
"Lucky you. If I had to download it on my 10MB DSL line GTA 6 will have been released by time my download is finished."

If for some reason my dl of the "update" for GTA V had failed I think I would've returned the game.

with 770's in sli you have to turn a lot back to make it smooth.
with a single 970 ftw you only have to turn 2 or three things back at 1440, with 2 970's you can crank it right up but you have to put up with the noise, with a single 980 you can crank it right up also.

after some testing and 2 gigs of updates i have some current info.
a single gtx980, 1920x1080, sync on, you can run 4x mxaa and txaa on and keep 60 fps with the graphics cranked right up.
at 1440 you have to ditch mxaa and txaa and your fps will drop into the 40s and 50s.

Very CPU dependent game, what did you use for the tests ? stock 6600k has about 20fps-30fps on a stock 8350.
