GTX 980 vram?

Hello all,


So I am currently running this gpu GIGABYTE GTX 980 4GB WINDFORCE and it it supposed to have 4gbs of vram but during gameplay it doesnt go above 3.5 - 3.8 gbs. What would require the full 4gbs of vram?

more textures. it's a game thing not a card thing.
and you don't want to exceed card vram, then it uses system ram and stutters.

Correct...it doesnt fill it for the sake of filling it...just like system ram.
