My Maxtor D740X is making a clicking sound every now and then, not sure if thats the click of death everyone is talking about or what. It just soundds like the read/write arm dropping when the computer shuts down, except that it does is during boot up, or out of the blue. The drive works fine, but it freezes sometimes, especially when im downloading alot at high speeds. I still got warranty on it i think, you think that I could get a replacement?

I would suggest running Maxtor's Drive Utility. The link is at the top of the Storage Section as a Sticky Post

replacement...well my friend talked to them and his drive is doing weird things, they said they wouldnt take it back unless the diagnostic tool said there was a problem. so I kind of doubt they will, but you can try.

Just back up all of your data and keep backing it up until the drive dies. Now just use it harder than ever so it can completely die and then you can take it back.
