Has anyone tried using a different fan in Antec PSU?

I was thing of changing the fan in my Antec PSU, anyone had a go at that?

I'd like to hear from someone about this as well. The fan in my Antec PP412X (400W) PSU is louder than my Original Millennium Glaciator, and I would like to replace it with a quieter one.

How about opening yours up and seeing what connections they have. If you do replace the fans, get the new fans from the front page that spin at 1000 rpm and are only 15db. When my new case arrives I might try it.

They use pretty standard looking connectors. But if you are planning on using a very low RPM fan then you should bypass the thermal sensor built into the PSU because running a 1000 RPM fan any lower may cause problems with it. Check the other thread concerning how to adjust the voltage pots for a link to show how to bypass the sensor.

I have an Antec PP412X 400W PSU. I don't think that this PSU has a variable fan (at least it sounds like it's always at the same speed all the time). Is there any harm in changing the fan to a quieter one?

Any fan suggestions?
