Ok, after a fair amount of researching around, i see the zalman surround phones = a huge no no.

So now its time to pick a set of stereo phones.

i've gotten down to about 3 or 4 headphones and not quite sure which set would suit what i want it for.

Sony MDR CD380
Beyerdynamic DT231
Sennheiser hd212pro
Sennheiser hd477

The main thing i am looking for is cormfort, because i do hear headphones for long periods of time occasionally and i like the headphones to have a decent soundstage.

I have been leaning toward the sony pair, due to reading that they are really cormfy, have a decent soundstage and i can get them in store unlike the other ones.

Your Thoughts?

p.s thats wat i have selected thats in my budget range.

I hear the same about the Zalmans also. Anyways, if you are gonna go with Sennhieser on a budget, get the PC150s. Very Very Comfy (at least on my head) But, I would go with the sonys also, great quality, period....

yea i saw the grados were pretty good but i can not find a respectable dealer in australia that sells them, in fact i have only found one. So they are pretty much out of the question. As for the senn hd497, they are too much more than i can afford, for some reason the price jumps from about $95aud for 477 to $145aud for 497 :(
