thx for the quick reply, anny good stores you recommend online? newegg doesnt have any of those and thats my usual spot.

wow 50-60 bucks for headphones...i spent 15 bucks for a nice set of headphones which work great...good sound and kick *** in gaming.

ps they're phillips...the kind you get for a cd player.

50-60 is relatively cheap. Once you hear the sound of something better than the run of the mill sony styles its impossible to ever turn back. Thats like saying cereal is the best food in the world when you have never tried a lobster.

ya i agree 50-60 bucks is midrange but its really all i need and i dont feel like spending 300 bucks on headphones -_-

If you think $60 is a lot for headphones, check out the Sennheiser Orpheus, but for 50-60, the Grado SR60 is probably the best.

im getting my px100's in the mail today. I will tell you if I like them. I also have heard good things of the Grado's and portapros.

Have you ever heard a "good" pair of headphones? I thought my stock ipod earbuds were good, until I bought some sennheiser mx400's for $11 at newegg.com and they blew the ipod's out of the water and the mx400 isn't even that great compared to other earbuds and canal phones.

Not to thread jack, but is there any other headphones you guys recommend that are at newegg?

I like those ones you pointed out 9mmcensor except I like the headset to be bigger & have some what of a cushion for the ear (plus blocks out other sounds). Any headphones in the 50-70 range with the credentials I described?

OH, BTW - Mainly for music & games.

I doubt you can find better phones under 100 than the Sennheiser HD497's. They're available at amazon.com for 42 (marked down from around 60)

I'm wearing them right now, and they sound great!
To give you an idea of the clarity of these phones, you can hear the difference between uncompressed .wav's and the high end .mp3's (192kbit vbr)
I'm sure there are many others who will agree with this suggestion.

Or, if you're looking for closed phones (the kind that block out outside sound) look for the Senn HD212, they are also 42 at amazon, marked down from 90 (great deal!)

Or, if you're looking for earbuds in that price range, the only ones I feel comfortable recommeding are the Sharp MD-33's. These are designed to work with a specific Sharp MiniDisk player, but have an included adapter that allows them to work with any source. The only place, aside from ebay, i have found these is www.audiocubes.com, which is a Japanese importer. They are 39 + 10 for shipping. http://www.audiocubes.com/category/...duct/Sharp_HP-MD33S_Four_Pole_Headphones.html
or, if you want something nicer, the entire line of Audio-Technica clip-ons are really quite good.

Thanks, thats perfect.

The Sennheiser HD497's are probably what I'll go with. But I appreciate all the other information. I don't want to shop at newegg but they have one stick of ram to match the 512 in my duallie & no other place has it.

so the 497's are better than the 212s? and does the 497s are they comfortable?

what does "and does the 497s are they comfortable?" mean

I have the 497s, and IMHO, they are better than the 212s, but they are open, meaning that you will hear sound from the surrounding area. If you are using them in a quiet area, the 497s are a better choice, however, if you will be in say... a dorm room, closed type headphones are probably best. From what I understand, the 212s use a very similar driver to the 497s, so fear not!

I use Sennheiser PC155's for hardcore gaming, best headset I've ever used. They run around $130 on newegg but IMO are well worth it if you're going to be using them a lot.

sorry for my crappy grammer i meant to ask are the 497s are comfortable cuz ive read some reviews it takes ahiwle to get use to it.

and open meaning the ear cushion part is open or the material lets sound in?

i dont really want a headset cuz i wanna use it with mp3 players thx tho for the suggestionms
