Actually Artic Silver II is about the best affordable thing out there. It works well, but must be applied carefully and properly according to their website in order to get the full return out of it.
Anyone care to share their success stories with thermal paste, Arctic Silver or otherwise? I'm looking into this for my motherboard northbridge heat sink and am curious what kind of temperature drops people have seen by just applying thermal paste.
actually, if someone made a gold compound, it would probably be the best, but since Silver is the only thing in production, it's definitely top of the line.
if you're implying that if someone made a paste with actual gold in it...uhh, no.
gold is not as good of a conductor of heat as silver is. it is however a good conductor of electricity, which in this case would be bad.
