Has anyone not been using a floppy so they can remove the floppy cage, and fit their heater core into its place? I am thinking about doing this, and leaving the cable attached to the motherboard. If I want to use my floppy, I will take off the side door and attach my floppy to the cable. :D What are you guys doing? :D

You could externally mount your floppy, you'll just have to reboot your computer for the bios and OS to recognize it when you plug it in.

I Honestly done ever use a floppy.

In all honesty unless a floppy drive isnt very needed in the pc these days. why have it at all i havent used a floppy drive in over a year now, i have one in a machine in the house but bootable cds are far more useful. Other than this mount the floppy in a way that it can use a pci slot hole in the case e.g. the bottom one and plug it in Leads should easily reach well they do with my sparkle PSU. you will find with minor modifications it works excelently as a hidden Floppy bay :).

Just my thought anyway maybe im just plain mad :)..

umm, I just used a floppy to flash my bios today

and I was booting with a dos floppy the other day to play myself some old school games.

just sharing.

I use floppies to install debian. :D But I may put it somewhere else... Just have to figure out where and how to mount it. How about if I just layed it on the floor of the case, too bad that would look pretty bad in my window. :D I think I will just leave the cable in and plug it up when I have to use it. :D

why not cut a disk sized hole for it and mount it on the bottom front of your case facing to the left.

kinda get what I mean??

OK, I have decided to kill it, if I need something from a floppy I will just use one of my other computers and transfer over my network. And I will burn a cd to install debian. :D

or you could just unscrew 4 screws and put ur floppy on for 5 minutes then take it off and close up your case again when ever you need it.
it can't be too much of a hassle

Ehh... Last time I used a floopy drive was on my old P233 and I needed a driver for a NIC which 98 was having a fit over.... but that was well over a year ago. Mine is sitting in my box, but it hasn't been plugged in in around a year either....

I use a floppy everytime I install windows... my scsi driver can ONLY be loaded from floppy, without a floppy drive in the machine setup crashes.

I removed my 3.5” cage so I could fit my rad comfortably in the case. I placed all my drives, including the floppy, in the 5.25” bays above. All it takes is a cheap adapter. If our like me, chances are you have one lying in a parts bin somewhere.

The bonus to me for doing this is cleaning out a lot of the wire clutter. All those drive power cables are hidden out of sight in those top bays.
