I don't know but in all the internet sites i've checked so far the big daddy of the heatsinks is always the swifty mcx462 well something is very strange, the swifty always wins by a small margin of 1 C or even less, i think swifty pays to the websites to show that their heatsinks are better so people will buy them. In my case i don't like swifty because they are bulky and the cooling power just comes from "brute force", anyways is not hard to beat the swifty since other brands such as alpha or thermalrigh just have to make the heatsink bigger so it would cool more. Why the swifty is still the number one? its been awhile like 3 months and i'm tired to read those reviews as the swifty is the best. Thermalright AX-7 or the PAL8045 are in my opinion better than the MCX462.

i dont think they are biased, and i dont think its fair to say they are unless you have personally tested them.

Swiftech didn't pay me to get the results I get with either of my two MC-462A HSFs. Regardless of how they get their results, ie brute force vs innovative design, the ends justify the means. Yeah they are big and bulky. So am I. :D My wife, daughter and mother still love me and i love my Swifty's.

Yeah you right, but it just didn't make sense to me that swiftech always wins, there is always a set up error that gives a small difference of temps, i mean the PAL8045 and MCX462 are so close that due to a error of that kind it might be PAL8045 the winner. Because 1 C or less it doesn't mean anything.

Without a doubt, thanks to the evolutionary process in heatsink design, the "pack" is closing in on the Swifty. I sincerely feel that it will be surpassed some day. When that day occurs, it will probably be beat by 1C. ;)

Dont bash the swifty because of the design, because the design is better. It is not brute force, but sure it is big and it has some flaws.

hmmmm what I dont understand is.. the Alpha8045 and Swiftech MCX462 performs next in next with a diff of probably 1/2C to 1C.. but the price difference is HUGE??? its like 35$ compare to like 60$??
that's HUGES...expecially for us Canadians.. those HSF here cost an arm and a leg... the Apha8045 here is like 70$Can Retail.. and the Swiftech some place in Canada you can find it for like 125$... hahahah that just kills..
Oh well what can you do about it... that's my own 2 cents for this topic

nobody is twisting your arm to buy a swifty. If alpha was the best I'm sure their price would refect that. I mean if they had the same price as the swifty which one do you think would be bought. take a look at how much the 462 has came down in price since the other companies have narrowed the gap. I paid $75us for my mc462 way back when.
I will be glad to take that 1c temp drop but thats just me. I just finshed making ducts for both my computers. my duron [email protected] has a duct with 80mm fan on a mc 462 and my temp at full load running folding at home is 32c and the other computer is a 1.4 [email protected] 1.6 using 120mm fan ducted to an mcxc 370 and at full load also running folding at home my temps are 37c and thats at a normal room temp of 78f.
had to tell someone before I exploded.

the Swiftech's are good hsf's no doubt about it, but they are very expensive, the 478 is even more expensive and if you want to overclock you might as well get watercooling

water cooling is a lot quietier or can be. It can also be expensive especially if you have more that one computer as long as my temps are below 40c I'm happy.

I definitely think the reviewers are biased towards Thermalright. I just bought an SKU900A for $44, based on at least two reviews that it is the best cooling sink available now. I tested it back-to-back against an Alph8045, it wasn't even close. The Alpha had 5 C lower temps, 44.5 versus 50.7.
