hey...i don't know if this is an idiotic question, because artic silver says you can't take off their adhesive once it's been applied...if this is the case, then i'm in a predicament...here's the story:

my ti4600 runs pretty cool with my crystal orb attached with as adhesive...when i began to overclock it, it would heat up really fast and cause lock ups, i'm hoping that reseating the heatsink will fix it (i was kinda sloppy attaching the heatsink in the first place, stupid me)...need to know if there is ANY way to remove the heat sink??? or should i just muscle it off and risk breaking the card???

try the same way you took the Visiontek stuff off...put the card in the freezer and then take it off...or game hard then take it off...

I would suggest the same as Funny, and stay away from muscleing it off, it probably will end up in disaster (believe me I know :()

Did you dilute the mixture in any way? If not, leave it in the freezer for a very long time. Some people have taken off their GPU caps trying to take off heatsinks applied with AS Adhesive

I have always been able to remove Arctic Silver Adhesive and Alumina adhesive full strength. The Freezer trick does the Job.

Arctic Silver writes its permenent on its website for liability purposes. But it will come off...

If you dont put it in the freezer, the GPU will come off like Cow said, so take your time

D'oh! Truly a tragedy.

Gotta be careful when cleaning that stuff off. Best to go with some Acetone instead of scraping. Acetone is cheap, and can be picked up in any store that sells paint stuff. My local Walmart has it pretty cheap.

I wish I could kill a GF4 and just go buy another. I am scraping up pennies to move up from my GF2 MX 400.
