HELP! A-Bit Bx6-2 and Celeron 700

I have a Celeron 700 (66*10.5) that i would like to use with my A-Bit Bx6-2 rev 2, however the multiplier in the BIOS only goes up to 9. (9.5 maybe? can't remember). I saw on the overclockers.com CPU database page that several people were running Celeron 700's on Bx6 boards, and I was wondering if anyone knows how this is accomplished. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that BIOS will recognize the proccesor and give you the settings you need, and if that does not do it check for updated BIOS versions and see if any of those will address your problem, you may have to flash your BIOS if you go this route but i think BIOS should recognize your new proccesor. And since the multiplier is locked for intel chips you may not have to worry about it it can only run at what the chip is set at so you may be fine just the way you are.

I have already got the latest BIOS that A-Bit has posted on their site. I also thought that since the multiplier is locked on the chip that the board would run it, as you suggest. I reset the BIOS before installing the 700, but the chip won't even POST. I also tried turning the machine off and on 3 times, since with A-Bit boards this will also reset the BIOS to the CPU defaults, still with no POST. All I get is the two hard drive's initial spin up, no display output whatsoever to the monitor. I didn't think it too likely that the chip was DOA, but i guess it may be.
 
did you clear the cmos? I think you're supposed to, according to the flash bios instructions. Anyway, there's only one jumper on the mobo, 3 pins, with the jumper in run mode over two. To clear or 'short' the cmos, just leave the computer off, then move the jumper between the other two pins, then move it back, and then you can turn on the computer again.
You might also try removing the battery while doing this, just to get rid of the evil spirits residing there. You can never be too careful with after bios surgery.
 
You may be pushing your CPU too much, did you try it at 66 Mhz fsb? A lower fsb in the "User Define" option rather than jumping straight to 100 fsb may work, see if you can get it to run at at 85Mhz fsb and gradually increase the fsb until it fails. Don't forget that you will also probably need to increase the Vcore to help keep it stable, but If it won't post at a lower fsb then it is probably a bios problem. What HSF do you have? Keep an eye on the temps also.

I see this is your 2nd post, greetings to this board. One piece of advice - go to the home page and read the "Beginners Guides", I'm sure it will help answer a lot of questions you may have.

I just read your post again and you don't state that you are overclocking so some of what I said may be irrelevant at this time, but you may have more success setting the fsb in the "User Define" option rather than let your bios try to auto-detect the cpu.

2nd modification to this post - I just checked my bios "XU" and my multiplier goes to 11.5 times, my mobo is BE6-2 ver 1.0 and is still supported with high multiplier so I'm not sure why the latest bios for BX6 should not also support higher multipliers.

3rd modification - just checked my son's comp (BX6) has MX bios and highest multiplier is 8.0 - so maybe latest bios won't support a 10.5 multiplier.
 
Just checked the dbase, only two people are using BX6R2 board - maybe the answer lies in the slocket. I am not a slocket user but maybe that's where you need to be looking.

Although I plan to try overclocking this chip, I am currently not able to get it running at all, even at 700. I am familiar with the votage tweaks, FSB settings, etc, as I have been running a Celeron 366@550 since I got it. My HSF is an Alpha. I have tried both autodetect and setting the FSB to 66 and the multiplier as high as it goes. I think LimeyGreg's idea is a good one - it could be the slotket. I am using an Asus S-370, and I am not certain that it supports flip chips. I will try another slotket today and see what happens. Thanks for all the help guys.
 
Yep, sounds like the slotket. I don't know about Cumine support on the S370, might not have started until the S370 DL.
