I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Here is what I did. I removed my bios chip and booted up with another bios chip from my brothers board. Very carefully I removed the bios chip when everything was still running. And finally I put the old bios back in and flashed it. Upon rebooting everything worked great. I think any bios from a similar board should do the trick as long as it boots your computer.

Yes as long as the bioses are somewhat similiar they should work. The nice thing about my BE6-II (which has recently passed away), is it would bring up a Bios Rom Checksum error if I had a bad Bios update. Then it woudl allow me to boot off of a floppy and reflash the bios. But even that could be very tricky.
