Help Choosing another XP

My good old XP1900+ has now developed an attitude!!!

I'ts dropped it's max Overclock by 50+ MHZ...

It's also running hotter than it ever has.....So..it's time to retire it..

Don't worry..it will find a new home in a Seti Cruncher...

But for my main computer...I need another chip..

Of course It will be overclocked..

Now...I am thinking an XP 2100...but should I wait for the 2200 to enter the retail stream..

(I am NOT going the T-Bred for now..so the choice HAS to be an XP)

If it's the 2100 or thew 2200..I will be sending it out to be professionally UNLOCKED..

I have ruled out the 2000+ because the jump from the 1900+ to the 2000+ just isn't enough to justify.

My Goal..is SPEED and STABILITY!!!!! PERIOD!!!

The price differance isn't really a consideration....(I've been saving up for an upgrade anyway).

I am leaning towards the 2100+...as I need a chip soon..

What do the Max OC's look like between the two?

I dont think the XP2100+ will overclock past about 2400+ level, as you will be hitting the max speed for that core if you overclock that far. Have a look around the AMD CPU area and see which steppings are the best overclockers.

2200+ is 1.80Ghz
2300+ is 1.86Ghz
2400+ is 1.93Ghz

The max will be about 2.0 to 2.1GHz

Go for any of the following: 1600, 1700 and 1800. Try to find a dealer which allows you to choose the stepping and ask if you can have an AGIOGA stepping. It'll overclock like crazy to where 2000 speeds will overclock to.

That looks about righ to me. I would expect 2.0.

Definetly my AGOIA 1600+'s rock both at default voltage setting for this mobo check signature.

AGOIA etc are the stepping of the CPU which tells which batch each CPU is from. CPUs of the same stepping generally have the same overclocking ability.

Thought I might mention that my xp1600 clocks to 1.74 and many of the newer ones are breaking 1.8 on air. I unfortunately am never that lucky. The next to knock off in my class at madonion is running an xp1600 at 1.85.

I unlock my own XP's I'm sure many others do the same.

I's sure there are people who will unlock a cpu for a small fee check in the services forum when you can see it.

True ..XP's from the 2000+ down are a SNAP to unlock...

2100+ and 2200+ cpu's need to have bridges CUT and others joined!!

Now..I don't mind unlocking ..but to CUT is an entire differant thing!!!

Go too deep and you have a KEYCHAIN!!!!
